Looking Back at 2013
Dear Friends and Family,
As we look forward to the significant changes that God is bringing to our ministry, we also look back to all that God has a accomplished in 2013. A couple of days ago, Lindsay and I were talking about the many blessings and challenges that the past year brought, and I’d like to share some of the highlights with you. Join us in praising God for an incredible 2013!
Jubilee baptisms • This year, Iglesia Cristiana El Jubileo (Jubilee Christian Church) continued to introduce many people to the Gospel for the first time. Many were baptized, including 13 on one Sunday on December 8th!
First missionary • It’s exciting for any church to send out a missionary from its own congregation. It’s even more exciting when that happens in a church that just a few years ago didn’t exist. A few months back, Jubilee sent out its first missionary to serve with a church and urban outreach in Brazil.
Latino pastor • One of the most critical parts of the long-term strategy for a mission church plant like Jubilee is establishing solid leadership. This year, the church hired its first full-time local pastor, Edwin Guerra. Edwin and his wife, Jesse, are committed to serving the church for years to come.
Ministry residents • God continues to use the Impacto work and Jubilee plant to develop ministry leadership within Latin America. Luis and Adriana joined with the Jubilee plant as ministry residents, serving and preparing for a lifetime of ministry in churches in Mexico.
Jubilee growth • 2013 wasn’t only significant for Jubilee’s leadership, but also saw important numerical growth, including Sundays with over 200 in attendance!
Building project • The long-term goal of providing a facility for the Jubilee church continues, with generous gifts from partner churches in the US and with sacrificial giving from the local congregation in Mexico.
Our family • There is too much to list, but a few highlights would be: Teaching at a Mexican youth retreat on God’s design for sex • Listening to good friend Rob Maupin preach at Jubilee’s anniversary • Studying the life of King David with Rob Gallagher • Learning form Logan Greer (my brother) as he taught at a Mexico youth leaders’ seminar • Visiting our steadfastly generous supporting churches in the US • Lindsay leading a small group of young women studying for ministry • Celebrating our kids’ 3rd, 7th, and 10th birthdays • Teaching students at Ozark Christian College in the classroom, over coffee, at the missions house, and while eatingchilaquiles
New daughter in Christ • This one deserves it’s own bullet point. On March 21, 2013 ourdaughter Isabella was born into Christ.
There is so much more than space and time allow us to share. Praise be to God for 2013! And join us in looking to Him for His grace and providence in 2014!
Happy New Year!
