Dear Praying Faithful,
In my last prayer post, I mentioned how God had been connecting us to people around the city. We have been able to visit a few churches, teach in two of them, see old friends, and make new ones. God has been very good to us in these first two months. Thanks for your prayers… they’ve been answered more profoundly than we ever expected!
A month or so ago, I connected with a missionary friend of mine, Eric Duggins, who has been on the field for more than 20 years, and asked him if he would “coach” me on a regular basis as we begin a new church. He agreed, and we began meeting. As our conversations with Eric progressed, a new possibility began to take shape. Eric and a relatively new team were in the beginning stages a new church plant in a community north of the city, and we began discussing us joining up with the work there. The work met many of our God-given desires: focus on local leadership, small-groups, working directly with the people of the community, etc. There was just one factor that was difficult for us: changing neighborhoods. Many of you know of the deep love for this place that we have developed over the past few years.
Lindsay and I began fasting, praying, and talking with a number of leaders in the US and in Mexico, asking them to pray with us about this possibility. With the counsel of others, and with a profound peace, we have decided to join the Duggins and their team up north in a community called Pachuca.
In terms of neighborhood location, it’s not precisely what we had planned, but then again, we also hadn’t originally planned on beginning without a team. It is God’s unexpected “team gift” to us.
Our prayer request here is two-fold: 1) Join with us in thanking God for his providing us with some really great colleagues, and 2) Ask for God’s leading over the next couple of months as we transition into the work in Pachuca.
We’ll keep you posted.
Thank you, thank you for your prayers, love, and support.
